
Consignment Arrival Marks Major Milestone in Hernia Project at Herona Community Hospital Kisoga
A significant milestone was achieved in the ongoing Hernia Project at Herona Community Hospital Kisoga when the project coordinator in Uganda received a vital consignment from AMSA Plastics Industries, S. Velllalapatti, delivered through DHL. The shipment, which arrived safely on 8th October 2025, represents a crucial component in advancing the hospital’s capacity to locally produce affordable hernia mesh for surgical use.
The consignment was ordered by Professor Andrew Kingsnorth, a renowned surgeon and global advocate for accessible hernia care. His continued support and leadership have been instrumental in driving the success of the Hernia Project, which aims to empower local healthcare facilities to provide cost-effective and sustainable surgical solutions.
Upon arrival, the project coordinator expressed deep gratitude for the timely delivery and acknowledged the importance of the materials in strengthening the hospital’s production and training efforts. The consignment is expected to enhance the hospital’s ability to fabricate high-quality hernia mesh, ensuring that patients in the Mukono community and beyond can access affordable hernia repair services.
