Dr. Alan Kravitz to vist uganda with his team to enhance the Lichtenstein hernia repair technique this brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership in surgery. He grew up in Rockville, Maryland, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland, and completed his residency in General Surgery in 1988. Since then, he has been in private practice in Montgomery County and, since 1993, has consistently been voted by his peers as a “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian Magazine.

His leadership roles include serving as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and currently as Chairman of the General Surgery Section. Dr. Kravitz also serves as Chairman of the Quality Improvement Advisory Committee for CareFirst in the Washington–Baltimore area and is a member of the national Physician Leadership Team for Surgical Care Affiliates. He has been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1989.

This visit marks an important milestone in collaborative global health efforts. Through the Hernia Aid Project, Dr. Kravitz and his team are not only treating patients but also empowering Ugandan doctors with sustainable surgical skills, contributing to improved surgical care and better health outcomes for communities across the country.
