Hernia International Sends First Surgical Team From Spain to Strengthen the Ongoing Hernia Aid Project at Herona Community Hospital
Herona Community Hospital proudly announces a major milestone in its ongoing Hernia Aid Project, following the arrival of the first team of volunteer surgeons from Hernia International in Spain. The visit marked a new chapter in the hospital’s mission to expand access to safe, life-changing surgical care for underserved communities.
The Spanish surgical team, composed of highly experienced specialists, joined hands with Herona’s medical staff to enhance the continuing Hernia Aid Project—an initiative aimed at offering free hernia treatment to patients who would otherwise struggle to access or afford surgery.
During their mission, the volunteer surgeons performed over 100 free surgeries, working tirelessly from morning until evening to ensure every registered patient received the care they needed. Many of the beneficiaries had endured years of pain, discomfort, and limited mobility due to untreated hernias, and the operations brought renewed hope and relief to their families.
The collaboration also created a rich exchange of medical knowledge, with local clinicians gaining valuable skills and exposure to advanced surgical techniques. This partnership not only saved lives but also strengthened the hospital’s long-term capacity to manage hernia cases more effectively.
Herona Community Hospital extends its deep appreciation to Hernia International and the dedicated surgeons from Spain. Their generosity, expertise, and commitment have made a profound impact on the community and reinforced the importance of global partnerships in improving rural healthcare.
With this successful mission, the Hernia Aid Project continues to grow stronger—and Herona Community Hospital looks forward to welcoming more teams in the future as together we transform lives, one surgery at a time.
